About the event
Registration will open on April 1st for the 2025 Permian Fest Paleontology Workshop!
The Whiteside Museum of Natural History proudly offers the Permian Fest Paleontology Dig program which will allow guests a rare opportunity to experience and learn about the world-famous Lower Permian fossil beds of Baylor County. Attendees will get to assist WMNH paleontologists as they uncover fossils of Dimetrodon and other Permian reptiles and amphibians. Though guests will not be allowed to keep these fossils, it presents a once-in-a-lifetime chance to help collect specimens from a historic and scientifically important fossil site. These fossils will be permanently cataloged into the WMNH collections and research database, as well as placed on exhibit for the world to see and enjoy.
Three dig sessions will be held from Monday, June 9th through Wednesday, June 11th. Each session is limited to 8 guests. Attendees can expect to experience light hiking and getting dirty!
